Box Office X-Men2 & Matrix

Put the max $55 on Matrix over XMen2 at -286. I really wish I took this when it was around
-120. The line has been climbing for some time now nearly every day.

Also, put $105 on X2 +15 million over Matrix at -105. Looks like Olympic changed the line recently to -120 now as the favorite.

I think the first one is the best bet. Matrix will simply outgross Xmen2 Fri-Sun. Let's just hope not more than 15 million though.

Looks like it turned out the XMen +15 was the better bet. I feel lucky to have won the Intertops (based on Estimates right now which I feel is safe)as I never thought Xmen would gross that much. 2-0 so can't complain though.

yeah, it would have been nice to have put more on X2 over Reloaded, but as you said it was hard to project X2's 85 million gross. If it wasn't for the front-loaded wed/thursday Reloaded opening the x2 over matrix play might have been a bit closer, but probably still a winner, I suppose...

X2 +15 over Matrix was pretty much a given after X2 took in 80+ million... Matrix opening on Wed/Thurs was the big reason it didn't just dwarf any other opening week, and we knew that.

The big question is, what about Matrix vs T3... Matrix is obviously the better movie, but due to the Wed/Thurs opening of it, T3 might have a fighting chance.

I think Reloaded is going claim the highest opening weekend this year. Maybe Return of the King will put up a fight, but as for T3 I don't think there will be much of a contest. The public's perception of it has improved with the new trailer, but I don't see how it can do better than 93 million, especially with the Wednesday opening.

I would've taken Matrix over T3. Personally, T3 looks a lot riduculous each time I see a trailer. I think a babe terminator has no place in a movie like this. And an old, beat-up Arnold speaking his machine talk was cool when I was a teenager, not anymore. I might check it out just to see what kind of special effects it has. Other than that, there's really no interest or point in seeing it.

Well, it wasn't just a straight Matrix 2 over T3 bet... I woulda felt pretty good about it... Its laying the big chalk on it, as it was a -350 or so bet, that makes me wonder a little... Still a safe bet I think though.
